Freeze the structure early

Decide the shape of every answer — headings, evidence slots, word-count budget — well before the final content is ready. Teams that are still arguing about structure in the last 48 hours have no time left to argue about quality.

Review in layers, not all at once

A single end-to-end review under time pressure tends to catch typos and miss strategy. Separate the passes: one for whether the answer is strategically right, one for whether the evidence is strong enough, and a final one for compliance and polish. Each pass is faster and more honest when it only has one job.

Protect one calm hour before submission

Build in a fixed buffer — even one hour — that is never touched by last-minute drafting, reserved only for final formatting, upload checks and a compliance read against the tender instructions. Most late submissions are not caused by slow writing; they are caused by a portal upload nobody rehearsed.

A calm deadline is not luck. It is a schedule that has already failed safely once, in rehearsal, before it mattered.
